A new and innovative way to bring job seekers and businesses together. The Advanced Manufacturing Recruiting for Careers Fair had 13 job seekers who took the stage to demonstrate their past experience in the field as well as their desires moving forward. Each job seeker was responsible for producing their own display, practicing their elevator speech, and dressing to impress. This was a success because over 100 percent of the job seekers met with businesses at the event which created a personal connection which is sometimes lost in today’s modern approach to hiring. Being this is the 3rd time Finger Lakes Hired partnered with ACCES-VR and the Workforce Investment Board we are hopeful for a great hire rate when following up with the job seekers and businesses. The past Recruiting for Careers Fair’s done in the Finger Lakes for Information Technology and Healthcare produced a 60 percent interview rate after the event and a 35 percent hire rate.
